The inaugural KN Nautiyal Inter-School Cricket Tournament, held at the GD Goenka Public School cricket ground, concluded on a grand note with a thrilling finale and captivating cultural performances by the students.
The two-day final match featured an exciting contest between Maharana Pratap Sports College Team (A) and Maharana Pratap Sports College Team (B). Team (B) emerged victorious, clinching the championship title based on a first-innings lead. Neeraj Bora of Team (B) was named Player of the Match for his exceptional performance.
The chief guest for the closing ceremony was Mr. Mahim Verma, Secretary of the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand and former Vice President of BCCI. The Guests of Honour were Mr. P.C. Verma, former secretary and founder member of the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand. In his address, Mr. Mahim Verma emphasised the importance of promoting cricket at the school level and commended GD Goenka Public School for organising the tournament.
Mr. R.S. Negi, Head of the Organising Committee, expressed his gratitude to all dignitaries for gracing the occasion and reaffirmed the commitment to fostering cricket at the grassroots level to nurture young talent.
The cultural program, featuring mesmerising performances by the students, added a vibrant touch to the event, making it a memorable celebration of sports and talent.
The tournament, approved by the Cricket Association of Uttarakhand, successfully provided a platform for young cricketers to showcase their skills, setting a new benchmark for inter-school sports competitions in the state.
The closing ceremony was further elevated by the presence of prominent dignitaries, including Mr. K.N. Nautiyal (Founder, GD Goenka Public School, Dehradun), Mr. Rakesh Nautiyal (School Chairman), Mr. Anant V.D. Thapliyal (Principal), Mr. Sandeep Rawat (Chairman, New Era Academy), Dr. Nivedita Ranot (Head of Sports), Mrs. Navita Malhotra(Academic Head), and Shekhar Arya (Cricket Coach), along with faculty members and students.
